Sampson (Combo Tested FIV+) Domestic Shorthair Senior Male in Marietta, Ohio

My story
Sampson is a sweet senior (perhaps 8-years old+) male kitty who was brought to the HSOV on December 18, 2022 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Elm Street in Belpre Ohio fending for himself.

That kind lady brought him inside her home for a day or so while she tried in vain to locate his family.

Sampson has a dark brown tabby coat with white markings on his chest/belly, white paws, a long ringed tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a brown velvet nose, a splash of white on his chin, and long white whiskers.

Sampson has a rather rugged-looking appearance and appears to have been fending for himself for awhile (or has fallen on bad times) .. But in our eyes, that just adds to his appeal and makes us loved him even more.

Sampson has the sweetest disposition and has surely been loved by someone in his lifetime.

These photos were taken shortly after his arrival on December 18th while he turned on his charm with HSOV Kennel Tech Hayley Sturm and our photographer.

Sampson is such a lovebug.

Sampson was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on December 18, 2022.

He weighed 9.4 lbs that day.

Sampson was examined by one of our wonderful local veterinarians on December 19th and was prescribed antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection (i.e., kitty cold).

Sampson was also combo tested while at their clinic.

He tested negative for feline leukemia but tested positive for FIV [Feline Immunodeficiency Virus].

A vigilant pet owner who treats secondary infections can assist an FIV-infected cat to live a reasonably long life. The chances that an FIV-infected cat will pass the virus to other cats within a household are slim to none if no serious fighting or biting occurs.

We have listed Sampson as a 'Special Needs Kitty' but prefer to think of him as merely special for so many other different reasons.

Sampson will be neutered in the near future (if deemed healthy to undergo that procedure) and will be looking for a fabulous home either through adoption or rescue.

Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net).

We can usually help with transportation.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sampson (Combo Tested FIV+), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
