Gertie Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) Adult Female in Marietta, Ohio

My story
Gertie is an adorable 6-1/2 year old female Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on the morning of January 19, 2023 by a Good Samaritan who had found her on Browns Road in the Marietta/Reno Ohio the previous evening. That compassionate individual tried in vain to locate Gertie's owner and ended up letting her spend the night in their home since the weather that evening was cold and rainy.

This sweet soul (Gertie) has a tan short smooth coat with white markings on her chest/paws, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a dusting of white on her muzzle, a black button nose, and large floppy ears.

Gertie has a gentle, affectionate personality and was the perfect lady when HSOV Kennel Techs Hayley Sturm and Alexis O'Brien took her outdoors for photos soon after her arrival. Gertie loves to be loved and surely has a family who is frantically searching for her.

Gertie appears to be housebroken based upon our observations before she posed for her glamour pictures.

The Good Samaritan who graciously offered Gertie a place to spend the night before bringing her to the shelter told us that Gertie was very sweet with their family, but that she did NOT like the family's cat (and kitty ended up being crated for the night and placed in lockdown for his/her safety).

Gertie weighs 61.2 lbs and walks gently on a leash.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Gertie will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gertie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
